G.R.I.D. Step 4

Step 4: End of Surveillance
Deadline On Checklist
Hello Mosquito G.R.I.D. Agent,
You've completed your mosquito egg surveillance! Here is what you need to do next:
Watch the video to see how to complete each part.
Before going outside, apply repellent or take other bite prevention measures.

Part 1: Remove Paper from Mosquito Egg Cup
- Remove the wet paper.
- Place the egg paper on clean, flat surface with side that may have eggs on it facing up (the side of the paper that faced the interior of the cup).
- Dump out the used water from the cup.
Part 2: Allow Paper to Dry Completely
Helpful Hint: A light breeze can blow it away as it dries. Secure the paper with weights at each corner. Be careful not scrape surface which might dislodge any eggs clinging to it.
Part 3: Save the Paper (These are Your Results!)
Important! Gently roll and store the dry paper back inside the egg cup.

Part 4: Return Complete Kit & Egg Paper to School for Microscope Analysis
Important! On your lab analysis day, you must take a picture of your paper through the microscope lense and post it to the G.R.I.D. reporting platform for credit for the project.
After your microscope analysis, turn in your kit to the Return Bin in your classroom. It must contain the following items in resealable bag :
- Mosquito Egg Cup
- Egg Paper (with or with out eggs and placed inside your cup) with your agent # on it
- Spike
Make sure your kit bag is zipped shut. Do not place loose items in return bin. Make sure the label on your cup is still legible. If not, you might not get credit for the project.
